Championing Local Businesses: The Heartbeat of Our Nation's Resilience and Prosperity

22 March 2023

We are fortunate to live in a beautiful country of high mountains, rolling prairies and rugged coast lines, and to enjoy the freedoms of democracy.

Woven into the very fabric of our history is the story of the pioneers who settled our country and established the small businesses; the farm, the general store, and the local mill.

The owners of these enterprises became the backbone of society, these stoic independents have supported the Canadian people through times of war, devastating storms, financial hardships and outbreaks of disease. They have served us - the local population - and, most importantly, they have always been there for us when we have needed them most.

In the times of prosperity did we forget the local farmer, storekeeper and the manufacturer that provides our local employment and sustains the local economy, did we run after the multi-nationals who are not here in time of need?

In these difficult of times, we find ourselves reliant once more on our local businesses. Not only for their innovative and creative ideas, and their adaptive and pro-active approach, but for their incredible and reliable support of the vulnerable and the front-line workers.... It is the local businesses that have been asked to step up to the plate by both Provincial and Federal governments to provide in time of need.

We've proved it works before and we can prove it again. This is the way we can all support economic recovery. It's all about Canadians helping Canadians.
